Right..Action Plan Time!

Right here is a list of things that need to be done:


Stop frame my finger drawing a circle onto the surface...left and right hand (might use a pencil)

Film the podiums being raised by the finger

Film two guitarists in stop frame to be placed on the podiums

Film glitter being thrown in the air

Film glitter forming the words UNITE

Film glitter falling on the table and being wiped off

Stop frame the finger drawing a square this time (again to be raised)

Film stop motion hand swinging onto the raised platform

Stop frame the word ARISE being wrote by the hand

Film ARISE being rubbed out

Film hand sinking into the platform

Stopframe the drummer and the drummer being dropped onto the platform

Stopframe the drummer exploding into the word Alight



......time to get started I think.

Idea Numero Two

Here is idea number two. It stems from idea one as I am determined to make this idea work.

First shot is a close up of the table..grass is blowing in the wind. Hand rises and falls to make the grass grow and shrink. 

Hand flattens the grass to reveal a flat white area.

The finger draws a circular motion on the blank surface.

Instead of finger I have decided to use a pencil. This is held by the hand and draws out an oval,

The shot then pans out to reveal the whole table. Two ovals have been made at opposite ends of the table.

The hand then individually rises each oval from the table into a podium.

Placed on the podium are my band members. (see inspirational stop motion)

Once band members are placed glitter is thrown over the table by the hand.

The glitter forms the word UNITE

Before falling down onto the table.

When on the table the hand reappears and sweeps the glitter off the table.

The pen then draws out a rectangle onto the middle of the table.

Again the platform is levitated using the hand.

The hand is then swung onto the platform.

The hand is place on the platform ready to draw.

The pen starts to write out the word arise in a fancy font.

When fully written the word arise is paused on screen for a few seconds before the words are erased.

The hand then starts to sink into the platform.

Hand completely disappeared

A drum kit and player is dropped at high speed from the top of the frame.

The drummer (in the same style as the guitarists) starts erratically playing the drums so sparks start coming from the drums. 

The drums explode into tiny pieces.

Forming into a flaming 'ALIGHT'

Inspiration

This is my favourite stop motion...ever. Take a look and you'll see why. Its also helped me over come an issue with my idea number one.

The guitarists on platforms need a more arty approach...see below for an example using my sister.

This idea of an interactive table kind of reminds me of a club I visited in London called Club 24. When a glass was placed on the table a pattern emerged around the glass. 

Idea Numero One

This is one of my first idea. I have got inspiration from Julian Vallee's Danse Dance : http://www.jvallee.com/dansedance.html

I think this idea would work perfectly projected behind the bands playing in The Hubs. 

Above you can see the general idea. The projection centres around an interactive table, this could be created in After Effects. The basic idea is to have an interactive table with a person stood behind to represent a conductor. They have complete control over the elements of the table.

Elements of the table are based on the word Alight. I want to record someone saying Alight and have that as an element in the piece, I have taken inspiration from the Manchester City shirt for this. The sound waves could also turn into the actual work Alight. The sound waves can be rotated and flipped meaning that they will have to be 3D.  

The table revolves around the idea of young bands and will feature moving podiums with band members. The podiums and stands are interactive, moving up and down and rotating. 

The conductor whether it be male or female will be dressed in a smart jacket and will be holding a conductors 'stick' which will allow the conductor to use the stick to write in the air. This also applies to the conductors hand also, this can also draw items into the interactive space.

Alight Testers

Here I have done a bit of playing around with the word Alight, trying to make it feel as modern and contemporary as possible. I want a young feel to be portrayed by my final projection so I have created this to try and see how I can use the word Alight in a youthful way.

Band Inspiration

Part of the Alight Festival is held at The Hubs where local secondary schools will be competing in a 'battle of the bands' style competition. The main audience will be family and friends of the band members and I also imagine that there will be a few students there. I want to create a piece of projection footage to be used at this part of the event, I want to create a modern feel to the projection. Below are a few images to help inspire me.
